Confused About the 3 Types of Songs?...

Confused About the 3 Types of Songs? Vault Store? Importing?

It depends what you want to do. The options are to have a low quality version for the radio players (128 bit MP3), a high quality version for 30 second previews (256 to 320 bit MP3's), and a vault file for sale (any format).

If you are planning to sell downloads you will need a vault file. That can be in any format you like, wma, mp4, wave - personally I think MP3s at 320 CBR are best. They are Cd quality without the space.

Vault files don't play. They are protected, and can only be accessed if someone buys them through your paypal button. Then they can download the file. You can also sell video files, PDF's, anything you want. Practically any type of downloadable file can be handled by the vault.

HI FI's are full quality, 30 second previews. I set that limit to prevent people stealing them with stream recorders. I can give yo control over this setting on request.

HI FI will accept 256 to 320 bit MP3, if you upload anything else there (wave for example) it automatically converts it to 320 bit MP3.

If you upload a HI FI, a 128 bit MP3 LO FI for the radio players can automatically be generated - if you choose. Or, you can load practically any type of audio file into the LO FI category itself, and it will convert to 128 bit MP3.

LO FI's play full length in the radio players - yours, if you create a station. Also, they are available for anyone to add to their playlist, including the main one (Indie Gospel Radio), unless you turn off that option (select "no radio").

Rey Perez's profile has all of this done, if you want examples. He has HI FI previews, LO FI radio, plus download sales of songs, a video download for sale, and a physical DVD for sale in his store.

You can save time by using the the multiple file uploader, there will be an option to import those files later in your song, video, or picture menus.

After using the multiple uploader, pretend you are uploading a song the normal way, in the song menu. Below the browse for song section, it will say import. Click there to see your list of files and select one.

The import option will be below browse on the HI FI, LO FI, and vault sections (all 3). I usually multiload 320 CBR MP3's, import a HI FI and vault version simultaneously, and let my LO FI be automatically created.

You may choose to do whatever you want - you are in control of your own media files. Perhaps you only want to upload 128 bit LO FI's to the radio - that's fine. Want to sell songs in the vault but let no one hear them - that's fine too.

You can always edit each category of a song later if you make a mistake. You don't have to delete your previous work and start from scratch.

Hope that helps,
